Teen Punished For Trying To Stop Bullying Of Girl---A Florida High School teen, Rich said she is being punished after obeying school policy, which calls on students to report any bullying to authorities. A Umatilla High School senior told that she was punished for standing up to students on a school bus who were bullying a mentally challenged teen.

According to the 18-year old, she witnessed the girlgetting bullied on the bus for months and complained to school officials for weeks.

“They would be mean to her, tell her she couldn’t sit on certain spots on the bus,” Rich said. “They were giving her foodthat they put in their mouth. I actually had to tell her to spit it out because she didn’t understand.” But, Rich claims, the school did nothing.

Rich said she complained to the bus driver, then to school officials, and when nothing changed, she tried to persuade the girls to cut it out.

The school appears to be standing behind its response.

“I can’t comment about student discipline,” Lake County Schools spokesman Christopher Patton told the Daily Commercial, but he cautioned, “You’ve got one side of the story … There are other parents that are involved in this.”

As for the loss of bus privileges, it soon will not matter to Rich. She is graduating high school with a 3.67 GPA and plans to study nursing next year at Daytona State College, the newspaper reported.
